PIYO – BLENDING YOGA AND PILATES WITH ATTITUDE!
PiYo LIVE is a strength fusion style format for people who like to sweat! Short bursts of cardiovascular work and strength training for all over body conditioning! Incorporating dynamic balance, dance conditioning, Plyometrics, strength, and functional training emphasizing the athleticism of Pilates and yoga. If you like the idea of taking your Pilates and or Yoga practice to another level, then PIYO is the class for you!
In PIYO each ROUND lasts for approximated twelve weeks and each ROUND dedicates one track to specific training so there will be a Warm Up Track, a Heat Building Track and a Core Track plus much much more. The music and the movements remain constant with progressions offered when needed but we do ask you to sign up for the current ROUND to that you can become familiar with the music and the exercises we do each particular track.
There is a strong Yoga vibe to the early part of the class with Sun Salutations performed to up tempo music in order to get the body warmed up nicely. Most people start to see the benefits of their hard work after a few weeks of practicing the movements and by the eighth week you will really be noticing a difference in your body! It is inevitable to experience some muscles soreness when we start a new form of exercise but this normally lasts up to 48 hours and should be a distant memory by the next class!
We provide general fitness mats for this class but you are welcome to bring a Yoga Mat if you prefer and we encourage class members to work either in socks or bare feet.
